Dr Brian Beres & other researchers & team have some interesting results from ultra early seeding showing generally positive results from seeding spring wheats in the winter to take advantage of speeding up the season for disease, water needs, and yields.

One you are at 0 C or above its go time for his research. High plant populations and seed treatments are key as well.
