Super B freight is very tight right now and costly. I expect this to be a problem all winter and spring so if you think you may need to use custom trucking to pick up your seed you may want to so well ahead of needing it.

We can treat seed year round and do so when its above 0C to help with adhesion. Let us know if you can line up freight as we have a trucking company who does haul treated.
We have used peat inoculant on pulse seed treating as we ship to customers for a number of years and recently went to AGTIV for an up to 30 day product without the need or a polymer coating. They changed the name from AGTIV Rhizo ON SEED to AGTIV Fuel P.
AGTIV Fuel P is still safe for up to 30 days on seed and does 40 ac of peas or faba beans and 60 ac of lentils. Its not sold per kg of seed like some but on acres covered. This makes it pretty economical. For example it works out to $8.75 per ac on peas or faba and $5.84 per ac on lentils. It sure is nice not having to deal with granular inoculant! If you are interested we will have some available. If you grew durum on irrigation in 2022 you may have experienced bacterial blight. It has been around for a long time and comes and goes as a potential problem. It can show up in patches in fields and reduce yields. The very bottom of this email has a picture of it and a link to more info.
It's possible some varieties are more susceptible than others but it can be seed born, soil born, wind born. Until this time there was no seed test for it in Canada and even now it is not known exactly how best to test for it. 2020 Seed Labs does have a seed test now. Our plan for Certified durum seed is to use dryland seed lots as well as send in for testing. There is no set methodology for testing but the thought is that at some level it is not a problem and above that threshold it poses a risk. This could mean that more durum seed will be sold vs normal so talk to us sooner than later if you are an irrigated durum grower needing seed. Link to a tweet from the PCDMN about bacterial blight in cereals. Click here to see the thread. Stronghold - Industry standard with wide adaptation. Stands very well and has solid stem for sawfly on dryland while having very high yields on irrigation. Longer season with MS for FHB.
Succeed VB - my favourite durum variety due to how early it is and top end yields being very good, It has very large seed size. It stands well, is a hollow stem and has midge resistance and is MS for FHB Donlow - The standard in FHB protection with a MS* rating for FHB & low DON accumulation. It's a hollow stem with top yields. Weyburn VB - New - it has a solid stem for sawfly resistance & midge resistance. MS for FHB and lodging rating is lower. GoldNet - This is a top yielding hollow stem durum with 1 year on the market. FHB rating is S. AAC Hodge VB - New - Hodge VB was the highest yielding HRSW registered with great disease package, the breeder says it has some bacterial blight resistance. It stood like Brandon or Leroy VB and is about 6 cm taller vs Viewfield. It yielded 6% over Viewfield with similar protein in registration data. MR for FHB
AAC Hockley - New - Hockley stands the best of any variety we have grown and is very short. It has 3% yield over Viewfield with better protein and is rated long season. MR for FHB and low Don accumulation. AAC Wheatland VB - Becoming the industry standard with great standability and protein at check levels CDC Adamant VB - Solid stem & SM1 gene for wheat midge AAC Brandon - Largest acreage by variety in Western Canada AAC LeRoy VB - Yield and disease package make this variety well rounded. Redberry - Very early season, grade retention, high protein but can lodge. This season started off slow, with little to no moisture and cool temperatures. Corn still found its way to finish strong throughout Southern Alberta.
Below is the trial data from a trial done east of Vauxhall, it was seeded May 7th,2022 and harvested on October 31st,2022. Each plot was 12 rows wide at 22 inch spacing for a total of 1.5 acres each plot. TH6072VT2P is a 72 day product that has a 2025 CHU rating.
