2025 Grain Yield Trials
We lost 3 plots due to poor seed to soil contact so had to mow them out.
Hybrid fall rye
Hybrid fall rye varieties yield were neck and neck for yields this season. Ergot was also very similar between the 3 harvested hybrid rye varieties.
Winter Wheat
For winter wheats we were surprised that AAC Icefield was equal to AAC Coldfront
Winter Triticale
We don't have a grain winter trit but the Tadues is a big yielder for us for seed and forage. AB windchill fall trit launches next season our grain/forage flex triticale variety. This season we had 2 acres of it, it had 2 PGR's and yielded 150 bu per ac.

2024 Fall Crop Grain Yield Demonstration Trails
We harvested our fall crop grain yield trials August 21st. (forage information from the trials is below)
Each 10' plot was harvested, weighed and sampled.
For Rye:
SU Cossani & KWS Serafino did well and were fairly comparable, while last season SU Performer was the best one! I think it shows that crop season and management style and more can impact yields. The BioniQ was not consistent in these trials.
In the Fall Triticale plots:
We had Tadeus at 30 plants, beat the 40 plant per square foot target.
AAC Coldfront showed well again vs Wildfire and we have most sales going that way this season.
Each 10' plot was harvested, weighed and sampled.

AAC Coldfront winter wheat was pretty close to Wildfire in the demo but in our seed production fields we saw about 5-7% advantage for the Coldfront over Wildfire. Coldfront is available next summer.
The SU Cossani and SU Performer hybrid fall rye are available next summer as well and did well in the demo.
Keep in mind that the standard bu weight for Triticale is 52, Rye 56, and winter wheat is 60 lbs per bu, so look at the lbs per ac number for direct comparisons of weight.

Hybrid Fall Rye Grain Yield Trials 2019
KWS Daniello Hybrid Fall Rye was the top variety although the plot yields did drop as it went East. Ergot risk was lowest in the KWS Daniello.
- For grain we harvested, weighed and sampled. The barley had hail before harvest, (was ripe so seeds were knocked out) so grain yield numbers are not available
- Ergot risk in small grain plots is also higher because there is not as much pollen in field edges so these plots are similar to how much ergot may be in the outside edges of a field
