Harvest 2021 is complete and ended nicely for us. In the field, drought conditions continue. Currently we are busy cleaning Barley seed.

 Some seed varieties are priced and some we are still working on. Early pay discounts will be more this season and 25% down to hold seed as it is such a variable season for supplies.

I have sent Corn Seed prices to some of you, if you need a price please let me know as October is the best month to buy for discounts on corn. Below we have corn booking options (now is the best price) and then HRSW and Durum yield trial info.

Corn
We have pricing out for corn hybrids from Thunder Seed corn, and for October invoicing that can mean a range of $192.50-249.70 per bag for October pricing on some great varieties that are worth a try vs corn you are currently growing.

• 2150 CHU TH 4076 HDRR thats 76 day or 2150 chu
• 2225 CHU New! TH6278 VT2P 78 day - big cobs, early vigour, handles variable acres well. good stay green with fast dry down. Worth a try!

• 2150 CHU TH 4076 HDRR thats 76 day with high digestibility for more value per mt of silage
• 2225 CHU New! TH6278 VT2P at 2225 chu 78 day with nice stay green to it, more dent, good in variable field situations
• 2250 CHU 4126rr - big plant, big cob, big leaf, good out of ground and economical as a straight rr. Competes well with 1047
• 2300 CHU 6180 VT2P - big plant and leaf and cob
• 2450 CHU TH6183 VT2P has good stay green, really tall showy plant
• 2550 CHU 6185 VT2P 85 day 
• 2675 CHU 4188 rr (no VT2P) - economical workhorse variety

Grazing: you want a verity that hangs on:

• Lower CHU varieties available from shorter season areas but in our area these are mainly used:
• 2450 CHU TH6183 VT2P, 83 day, has good stay green, a really tall showy plant
• 2550 CHU 6185 VT2P 85 day
• 2675 CHU in the 4188 rr (not vt2p) 88 day - if you want economy a tried and true 88 day we grew some if this one this season and it does well and stands great in winter.

Non GM Corn
A few people are also trying some non herbicide tolerant corn hybrids from De Dell to reduce seed cost as they were already using residual herbicides in corn https://imperialseed.com/portfolio-items/corn/


HRSW & Durum Trial
These trials were seeded late April meaning they were at the perfect time to be impacted by the heat in late June. Yields, yield differences, standability may be impacted vs other seasons. Keep in mind this is not scientific or replicated and is on irrigation, so dry land recommendations may be different. The plots were shorter due to heat stunting and had about 1' of rain on at maturity.
