Sales Update as of April 24 2026

Flax, Barley, Canola & Corn sales are above the past few years sales due to net returns. 

I do think there will be a lot of canola, wheat and barley grown in Western Canada at the expense of pulses mainly. As well as a slight reduction in durum acres in areas like ours where people will readily interchange a cereal on their farm.

Silage crop sales are slower as people had big silage yields last season but green feed or forage blends are still strong as cattle farmers are keeping those animals happy! 

Things to watch for in 2026:

• Feed wheat pricing as it may make you 5% more net returns depending where you are located. 
• Ethanol plants and feed users are buying soft wheats at good values, and GP+ red wheat programs are also driving sales.
• Keep your eyes on fall crop prices (Rye & Winter wheat) as those crops look like strong contenders for acres this summer.
• Durum, large green lentil & yellow pea sales are lower vs the last 3 years, as to be expected with lower pricing.
