Lentil acres have climbed a lot since the 1980's but other crops like mustard and canary seed have been flat.
 
Canary seed 290,900 ac in 2024, up 13.5%

• Hard to find acres and price discovery today, used to just trad a car or a few cars every so often to get price discovery.
• Canary exports down 26% over past 10y from Canada

 
Mustard

• Acres up 74% over last 3 years
• Supply up 13% over past year.
• Overall ac down 5% last season
• Yields 12-14 bu per ac.
• 40-50% of acres are yellow mustard
• Russian mustard acres are down​
• Acres reported by stats can seem much too high according to the trade, 450-500 k acres
• More dockage in mustard, up to 10% is lost from dockage from total production.
• Next season will be a problem for mustard acres and bids may not reflect that this winter to get acres = price may go up next fall.
• Oriental & brown mustard levels are dropping
